Find The Best Used Sportbike Parts on eBay.

I've owned a lot of sportbikes in my day, and I will tell you, they all have one thing in common - they require a stream of replacement parts to keep them running in top shape. Whether you are replacing expendable items like tires and brakes and fluids, or crunched-up items like fairings, subframes, or rearsets, these bikes have an appetite for parts. Let me tell you how I get killer deals on used parts - eBay is only part of the story.

Ouch... looks expensive.

Ouch... looks expensive.

Sportbikes are cool enough, but man are they expensive to fix! Sure you might be one of those that have never crashed, but you know what they say; "There are 2 kinds of riders, those that have crashed, and those that will crash". I can personally attest to the validity of this statement. The need for parts is pretty high with these super-cool, super-fast machines. In general they are ridden very hard and its only natural for parts to wear out, break, or possibly be smashed to smithereens... hopefully not the latter.

Where else, right? Let me explain -

Where do you find good deals on used sportbike parts? Ebay, of course! Not too fast though, let me show you what a good deal looks like versus a dud. There are loads of deals on Ebay, but for every good deal there are 2 duds! Let me tell you about how you can recognize the smoking deals so that you can save some cash and also ensure that you are making a sound purchasing decision.

Before you go diving into the world of used sportbike parts, let me provide a bit of caution. The most important thing to keep in mind when you are considering a purchase, is not the part - its the seller. The reason this is of utmost importance is that used parts that could have sustained structural damage must be disposed of. Sometimes this damage cannot be seen with the naked eye, so it takes a knowledgeable and experienced used parts seller to make the determination of whether the parts could possibly be dangerous or not.

Not all used parts sellers are equal. Some parts are being sold by companies that specialize in quality used parts while some are being sold by less than reputable individuals with little to no knowledge of the parts they are selling. Often times you can find really cheap parts that are listed by an individual however in many cases, this is a guy who has crashed his motorcycle, and is trying to sell the parts that his picked up from the side of the road! Now even though you can pick up some killer deals from this type of motivated seller, you must also be cautious. The reason is they may not have the knowledge and experience to correctly diagnose faulty parts that might appear fine but might in fact have structural damage that could be dangerous if installed and used.

I recommend buying your used parts from a reputable used parts seller that specializes in used motorcycle parts. This way you have the assurance that you are buying safe and usable parts. You still get a deep discount on the used parts, but you also have the peace of mind knowing that you are dealing with a seller that has good knowledge, service, quality parts and competitive pricing. One such seller on Ebay is VelocityKing. They sell tons of great used parts, and have an outstanding reputation as well. Search for them on Ebay.

These guys rock, I'm telling you.
These guys rock, I'm telling you.

So head over to eBay and do a search for VelocityKing. If you just do a search for something like "06 07 GSXR 600 750", their inventory should come up. Those guys really have it together and can get you back on the road faster, cheaper, and SAFER.

Here is a very small example of some of the great parts you will find.

Yes it pays to be a little wary of what you are buying especially if the person is selling second hand parts and they are not a reputable seller, good advice. ebay is not the only place this happens though. i recently had my bike serviced, I ride a Ducati 749. I decided this time to ask around a bit to see if i could find bike shop that wasn't going to cost me a fortune for the service. after talking to a few people "beware" was what i was told. Some of the dealers themselves are using cheap parts as substitutes for the genuine item. This is fine if you are ok with this and aware of what they are doing, but its not acceptable if they tell you they've done the service everything's ok then you find you have to replace the same part again in half the time it would normally have been if they had used the proper genuine item. I ended up getting the service done by someone who was recommended and could be trusted, it cost me nearly $500 less and I got the genuine items. Pays to shop around, get advice, then make your purchase.
